Socialist Equality Party public meetings

Three years since the invasion of Iraq: historical lessons and political perspectives

The Socialist Equality Party will be holding a series of meetings across the United States marking the third anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq. David North, chairman of the World Socialist Web Site International Editorial Board and national secretary of the SEP (US), will speak at meetings in Ann Arbor, Michigan; New York City; Phoenix, Arizona; and Los Angeles, California.

The meetings will also feature SEP candidates for the 2006 US elections. The meeting in Ann Arbor will be addressed by Jerome White, SEP candidate for Congress in the 12th District of Michigan; in New York the meeting will be addressed by Bill Van Auken, SEP candidate for US Senate in New York State; and John Burton, SEP candidate for Congress in the 29th District of California, will speak at the meeting in Los Angeles.

Support among the American population for the Bush administration’s policy of war and social reaction has never been lower, but these sentiments do not find any expression within the political establishment. A movement against the war must be renewed, but on a far more powerful basis. Three years after the invasion, the fight to end war requires a new political perspective.

The SEP warmly welcomes all readers of the WSWS to attend the meetings and participate in the discussion.
