WSWS : Correspondence

On Pol Pot and The Killing Fields

10 December 1998

Hello. I recently read your article on Pol Pot. My research project on him brought me loads and loads of books. They took much time babbling on about tiny, irrelevant details. I am glad I visited your site because you summarized the situation in a beautiful way. After probing around for more information, I watched The Killing Fields. If you would like to understand in a profound way, just exactly what it was like to experience the horrible actions of the Khmer Rouge, I suggest you watch the video. Textbooks and biographies never give students or readers full understanding of the topic unless one can really see what it was like to be in that situation.

Sincerely,
Jennifer
