The Russian Revolution and the Unfinished 20th Century

A live Q&A discussion with David North

The World Socialist Web Site invites all of its readers to participate in a special live Q&A discussion with WSWS International Editorial Board Chairman David North on his recently published book, The Russian Revolution and the Unfinished Twentieth Century. The event will take place on Saturday, December 13 at 1:00 p.m. US Eastern Time. It will be accessible at wsws.org/utc.

Listeners from around the world will be able to participate online and ask questions during the interview, which will be moderated by WSWS reporters Andre Damon and Andrea Peters.

The discussion will be a unique opportunity for readers of the WSWS to take part in a critical discussion on the lessons of history and their relevance for the pressing political issues that confront the international working class today. “Far from receding into an ever more distant past,” North writes, “the twentieth century has acquired the character of a massive debt which no one knows how to pay off.”

In fifteen separate lectures, essays, and reviews, North’s book examines fundamental political, theoretical and historical questions of our epoch—including Trotsky’s struggle against the Stalinist degeneration of the Soviet Union, the nature of the October 1917 Russian Revolution, the impact of postmodernism on the writing of history, the social roots of the Holocaust, the crisis of American liberalism and the role of right-wing intellectuals in the US-backed coup in Ukraine.

We invite you to join us online on December 13 at 1:00 p.m. US Eastern Time at wsws.org/utc. (For time conversions, click here).
