Video: Detroit teachers speak on the struggle to defend education

Detroit public school teachers continued their walkout on Tuesday, May 3, shutting down the district for the second consecutive day. The teachers are protesting against the denial of payment of their earned wages by Emergency Manager Steven Rhodes and the Michigan state legislature. The walkout follows similar actions earlier in the year over wage cuts, attacks on pensions, the deplorable condition of many school buildings, overcrowded classrooms, and other issues.
