Am Mittwoch gab das Federal Open Market Committee, das Entscheidungsgremium der amerikanischen Zentralbank, bekannt, dass es seinen Leitzins auf dem jetzigen Niveau von Null bis 0,25 Prozent halten werde. Während diese Entscheidung allgemein erwartet worden war, wurde viel darüber spekuliert, ob die Fed in ihrer Ankündigung Formulierungen benutzen würde, die auf eine baldige Anhebung des Leitzinses hindeuten.
