Desert Slaughter

The Imperialist War Against Iraq
[Labor Publications, 1991, 523pp]

Contained in this book is the only comprehensive analysis of the 1990-91 Persian Gulf crisis written from the standpoint of socialist opposition to the imperialist war against Iraq. It provides not only the definitive record of the political struggle against the gulf war, but a week-by-week chronicle of the unfolding crisis and an analysis of its historical background.

The seven years since its publication, especially the recent months of crisis, have added to the importance of Desert Slaughter and vindicated its central prognosis: that the end of the war would not mark a period of peace and stability, but would set the stage for further imperialist aggression, war and revolutionary convulsions.

Here we present the table of contents and preface to Desert Slaughter as well as two articles from the book, "Workers Must Oppose the Gulf War" (2 September 1990) and "There is No Peace" (8 March 1991).

We encourage you to order the book online via secure credit card transaction; or by mail (send check for $20.90 to Mehring Books, PO Box 48377, Oak Park, MI 48237, USA); or by telephone (248-967-2924 in the US).
