In 2006, the bloody war in Iraq entered its fourth year, with the eruption of full-scale inter-communal civil strife between Sunni and Shi’ite-based militias, stoked by the US occupation. As the US began to ramp up threats against Iran, it also encouraged brutal wars by its allies, including the Israeli invasion of Lebanon.
