Anti-war protest against US-Israeli war on Iran

EMERGENCY WEBINAR

On March 8, the World Socialist Web Site held an emergency global webinar on the US-Israeli war against Iran, drawing thousands of participants from around the world.

The principal charge brought against the defendants in Nuremberg was 'crimes against peace,' that is, the launching of a war without any legal justification. There was no imminent threat to the United States.

OUR DEMANDS

The Socialist Equality Party calls for an international movement of the working class against imperialist war, ICE repression, and the capitalist system:

1

IMMEDIATE CESSATION OF US-ISRAELI MILITARY OPERATIONS!

Stop the criminal war against Iran now. This war violates the US Constitution and international law—it is a 'crime against peace' under the Nuremberg principles.

2

WITHDRAW ALL US FORCES FROM THE MIDDLE EAST!

Close all US military bases in the region. End 73 years of US imperialist aggression against Iran and the peoples of the Middle East.

3

END ALL SANCTIONS AND ECONOMIC WARFARE!

Lift the crippling sanctions that have devastated the Iranian people. Economic warfare is an act of war against civilian populations.

4

FULL ACCOUNTABILITY FOR WAR ARCHITECTS!

Prosecute all officials responsible for planning and executing this criminal war. No immunity for war crimes.

5

DISBAND NATO AND THE MILITARY-INTELLIGENCE APPARATUS!

Liquidate the military alliances and intelligence agencies that serve as instruments of imperialist war and domestic repression.

6

DEFEND DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS! STOP ICE REPRESSION!

Stop ICE repression. War abroad and attacks on democratic rights at home are two fronts of the same capitalist offensive against the working class.

7

INTERNATIONAL WORKERS UNITY!

Unite workers across all borders against war and capitalism. Build rank-and-file committees to organize strikes against the war machine.

8

BREAK WITH BOTH PARTIES!

Democrats are accomplices—115 voted for the NDAA, they funded every weapon. The working class needs its own independent political party.

9

FOR A SOCIALIST PROGRAM!

Place the banks, corporations, and war industries under democratic workers control. End the capitalist system that breeds war and inequality.

Workers have the power to stop war. Transport, logistics, and arms workers can halt the war machine. Call meetings in workplaces and neighborhoods to organize action.

BUILD RANK-AND-FILE COMMITTEES TO STOP THE WAR

No section of the capitalist establishment—not the Democrats, not the media, not the union bureaucracies—will stop this war. They are all complicit. Only the independent mobilization of the working class, organized in rank-and-file committees, can halt the drive to World War III.

The International Workers Alliance of Rank-and-File Committees (IWA-RFC) provides the framework for building this movement. Transport workers, dockworkers, logistics workers, and arms industry workers hold strategic power to stop the war machine. Turkish miners striking against their government's complicity show what is possible.

The anti-war movement must be built on four principles: it must be based in the working class, it must be anti-capitalist and socialist, it must be completely independent of the Democratic and Republican parties, and it must be international—uniting workers in the US, Iran, Israel, Europe and throughout the world against the ruling classes of all countries.

What distinguishes us
from other parties

World party, not nationalist

We defend and advance Leon Trotsky's theory of permanent revolution, which argues that the struggle for socialism must be led by the working class and carried out on a world scale.

Revolutionary, not reformist

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and other pseudo-left tendencies work work within the orbit of the Democratic Party to try to reform capitalism. We fight for the political independence of the working class to prepare for socialist revolution.

Class unity, not identity politics

Identity politics serves upper-middle class careerists while dividing workers. We unite the working class across all racial, gender, and national lines.

We educate workers and tell them the truth

The SEP, WSWS and ICFI fight every day to develop socialist consciousness within the working class, in order to build a revolutionary leadership capable of overthrowing capitalism.

Our Program

WHERE WE STAND

A criminal war against Iran

This war is a 'crime against peace' under Nuremberg principles—the supreme international crime. It violates the US Constitution and was launched without congressional authorization.

73 years of US aggression

From the 1953 CIA coup to today's bombing, the US has waged unrelenting war against Iran. This is not about 'terrorism'—it's about oil, geopolitics, and preparation for conflict with China.

Democrats are accomplices

115 Democrats voted for the NDAA. They funded every weapon. No section of the capitalist establishment will stop this war—only the independent mobilization of the working class can.

War abroad, repression at home

ICE raids, attacks on immigrants, and the assault on democratic rights are not separate from the war—they are two fronts of the same capitalist offensive against the working class.

Four principles of the anti-war movement

The movement must be: based in the working class, anti-capitalist and socialist, completely independent of capitalist parties, and international—uniting workers across all borders.

WHAT READERS SAY

"

The writers are legends. They get their hands dirty talking to workers while explaining the history lessons we need to understand what's happening.
