Readers respond to eyewitness report from Belgrade

"Not all the citizens of the USA are in agreement with the powers-that-be"

The World Socialist Web Site received letters in response to "Death In Belgrade: An Eyewitness Report," a statement sent by MR, a medical student in Serbia, and posted on the WSWS on 28 April 1999. We also continue to receive other messages protesting the US-NATO military assault on Yugoslavia.

To MR:

Your letter is heart-breaking. Not all the citizens of the USA are in agreement with the powers-that-be. In fact I don't know anyone who wants us to be there bombing you or interfering at any level.

Dear Editors,

I read a great many articles in other publications of which I can make very little sense. I had no difficulty, however, in understanding: "Death in Belgrade: an eyewitness report".

Of human misery, there is always more than enough. In recent weeks it has been appallingly increased.

Thank you for being a continuing, alternative source of information.

Sincerely,

RD

To the editor:

Hello. Thank you for your articles. People should stop this dirty war and NATO should pay for what they have been destroying and killing in Yugoslavia.

Regards,

YB

An Open Letter to Heads of State of NATO countries, as well as their respective legislative bodies:

In your hands lies the destiny of our Planet; either to risk Apocalypse in order to preserve the excremental vision of a dying world order based on exploitation and destruction of the Earth and its inhabitants, or to help in the birthing of a "true" new world order based on cooperation and respect for life and the right of self-determination of all peoples.

The Dow Jones, Nikkei, Futsi can rise to infinity, but behind them they will have turned what is most precious and sacred, Life, into rubble.

God is Real, God is True. You are living a dream, a fantasy, a nightmare. Wake up, or the final holocaust of your own creation will wake you up with its thunder, and then, it will be too late!

So, leave the Serb people alone, leave the Iraqi people alone. If you cannot acknowledge publicly your evil doings and pay reparations for all the damage you have inflicted upon them, then, the very least you can do is to get out of their lives. Stop the sanctions against Iraq, Yugoslavia, Cuba, Angola and the plethora of other countries that you hate because they refuse to be raped by your neocolonial genocidal machinations.

Instead of spending obscene amounts of money on armaments, spend them in true help for the poor, both in your own countries and abroad.

A lot of you belong to a generation that aspired to high ideals for humanity in your youth, and instead of honoring them, now that you are in positions of power, you have confused "growing up" with getting prostituted by power.

The lie is getting ripe and it will soon kick you in the face. Grow up and be a true human being. Unzip your brain as often as your fly! Remember that? L'imagination au pouvoir!

Grow up!
