A letter from the mother of homeless Michigan man killed by police

The World Socialist Web Site received the following letter from the mother of Milton Hall, a homeless Saginaw resident who was killed by police July 1. The 49-year-old Hall, who was struggling with mental illness and disability, was shot at 46 times in a busy shopping center for allegedly brandishing a knife. He had been accused of stealing a cup of coffee.

A Socialist Equality Party campaign team spoke to residents at the scene of the killing and published a report written by Naomi Spencer.

Dear Ms. Spencer,

Thank you for the beautiful article you put on World Socialist Web Site regarding my son Milton Sherman Hall. Thank you for honoring him and capturing the entire incident that caused his death.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness, for your support, and concern when they are needed so much.

With Warmest Regards,

Jewel L. Hall, Milton Sherman Hall Mother
