The political crisis in the US and the 2016 presidential elections

In an online forum at 7:00 pm Eastern Time, WSWS International Editorial Board Chairman David North will introduce WSWS writer Patrick Martin in a discussion on the political crisis in the United States less than a month before the presidential elections.

In the contest between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, the generally degraded state of American politics has entered new lows. On Thursday, Trump delivered a speech aimed at exploring deep social anger and directing it in an extremely right-wing and nationalist direction, whatever happens in the election. For her part, Clinton is seeking to outflank Trump from the right on foreign policy by baiting him as an agent of Russia, while using sex scandals to cover up the deeply reactionary content of any future Clinton administration.

Martin will review the presidential election and discuss its significance and implications for the working class in the United States and internationally.

The forum will be broadcast live on the Socialist Equality Party’s Facebook page, fb.com/sepus, beginning at 7:00 pm Eastern Time. Listeners will be able to ask questions and make comments on the video stream.
