“The power needs to be in all the workers’ hands”: Highlights from online Q&A with Will Lehman, candidate for UAW president

On August 27, Will Lehman, a Mack Trucks worker and candidate for UAW International president, hosted an online Q&A, explaining his campaign to build a rank-and-file movement in the working class and abolishing the pro-company union bureaucracy.

More than 150 workers and other supporters attended the online event, including autoworkers from Ford, General Motors and Stellantis (Chrysler), as well as Mack Trucks in Macungie, Pennsylvania, where Lehman works. Along with active and retired workers in the auto industry, workers in a number of other sectors attended as well, including educators, health care workers, service workers and students.

After summing up his campaign program, Lehman answered questions on a range of issues, both on the deteriorating conditions facing workers and broader social, political and historical issues.

The World Socialist Web Site has endorsed Will Lehman’s campaign for UAW president. For more information, visit WillForUAWPresident.org.
