India has become the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic with the highest daily cases of any country in the world. The virus is raging uncontrolled throughout the country, with terrible consequences for millions of people, pushing the total number of officially recorded cases to more than 26 million and the death toll to over 300,000.
As globally, the pandemic has highly intensified political, economic and social crisis of bourgeois rule in India, revealing cynical indifference of the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ruling elite about saving human lives from the raging virus. These developments clearly underscore the necessity of independent political intervention of the working class on socialist internationalism.
The Socialist Equality Party (SEP) in Sri Lanka is holding an online public meeting elaborating the socialist strategy of the working class to fight the pandemic at 6 PM on Sunday, May 30 (Indian Standard Time). We urge all our readers in South Asia and also internationally to attend this meeting. Attendees should register in advance using the Register button on this page.
