More letters on a reply to charges of anti-Semitism

The following is a selection of letters sent to the World Socialist Web Site in response to “WSWS replies to charge of anti-Semitism in coverage of US-Israeli war on Lebanon” . An initial group of letters was published here.

You have so eloquently shot down the illogical charge of anti-Semitism. It was thoroughly enjoyable to read such a well-formed and intelligent response. I have frequently come across such accusations in articles, but rarely has one such as yourself so expertly dismantled the shoddy lies of such a charge. I commend you on your outstanding article. It is truly a pleasure to read an article of such well-formed logic.

Well done! I need not say more. I’m not a Socialist; I’m a Constitutionalist, but in this case that is neither here nor there.

Best to you,

Dear Mr. Van Auken,

Once again I have nothing but supreme praise for your organization and your web site, in particular as exemplified by your thoughtful reply to MO’s vile letter to you. By any standard of reasonableness, the WSWS web site’s news coverage and essays are consistently of the highest quality and integrity. But we have unfortunately lost all standards of reasonableness in this beastly age. So few of us have courage to speak truth, having to endure the most massive and sophisticated production of fear ever. Almost every media entity has disastrously turned against humanity in general. Almost every social enterprise and cultural artifact lets us down.

You keep my gratitude and deep appreciation for your hard work. When asked, I always recommend your site to friends and acquaintances. For the record, I can’t say that I’m a socialist. I find the contradictions and stakes of the current terrible wave of threats to our very existence as not just a nation, culture or species—but to the entire existence of all life on the planet—call for a “transvaluation of all values” in the most sober and literal sense by everyone who wishes to be called human (making me some kind of anarchist I suppose). Maybe then we’ll truly all arrive at socialism. But clearly you have my sympathies, as does anyone who simply speaks the truth.

Cheers,

JK

Way to go, Bill. You showed yourself to be sane, civilized, and adult toward someone with a sickly immature, uncivilized, antisocial and criminal mindset—a mindset indicative of being deeply in the wrong but psychologically unable to confront the fact. What a sick world he/she must come from!

Everybody is afraid of being called an anti-Semite. I’m glad the buck stopped with you. You lined out their atrocious behaviors quite succinctly. But you were assuming that he/she could understand what you wrote. Usually bigots like him/her, who believe that the Palestinians are just suppose to lie down and take it, are usually pretty academically challenged. Okay, let’s call it like it is: ignorant.

It’s so obvious that the alleged kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers served as a pretext to launch this attack against Lebanon. Even that ignoramus that had the nerve to write you with such obvious hate and anger should be able to see that. There is none so blind as he who refuses to see.

Keep the good work up and I am glad to see people who don’t back down from wrongful charges of anti-Semitism. I am one of the WSWS’s biggest fans because you are not afraid to speak the truth.
