ICFI/SEP public meeting in Paris

Sri Lankan troops out of the north and east!

The socialist program to end the war in Sri Lanka

With the support of the US and other imperialist powers, Sri Lanka's Sinhala bourgeois elite have waged a communal war against the country's Tamil minority for the past quarter century, with disastrous consequences for the island's working people, Tamil and Sinhala alike.

At the same time, the program of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) does not articulate the democratic strivings of the Tamil people. Its aim is to create an ethnic Tamil capitalist nation-state through an armed struggle that makes no distinction between the Sinhalese toilers and bourgeoisie, and it seeks the patronage of India and other capitalist powers to achieve this end. This bankrupt perspective has only served to strengthen the reactionary Colombo regime and has led the Tamils into a tragic impasse.

Peter Schwarz, the secretary of the International Committee of the Fourth International, and Myilvaganam Thevarajah, a leading member of the Socialist Equality Party (SEP) of Sri Lanka, will outline the socialist program to end the war and secure the democratic rights of the Tamils.

All workers and young people, irrespective of nationality, are encouraged to attend this important meeting.
