Encanto is a small community on the outskirts of San Diego, California, home to many immigrants from Latin America and Asia. Since the 2008 financial crisis, the cost of housing, food and other necessities has gone up, while wages have remained almost the same.

Supporters of the Socialist Equality Party presidential campaign spoke to workers in Encanto about the 2016 elections and the SEP’s program. The campaign was met with warmth as working people in the community expressed frustration with and contempt toward the two presidential candidates being put forward by the Democrats and Republicans.
