An IYSSE international meeting series
The war in Ukraine and how to stop it
The historical and political origins of the US-NATO war against Russia
ScheduleGet involved

The International Youth and Students for Social Equality—the student and youth movement of the International Committee of the Fourth International—is holding a series of meetings throughout the world to explain the evolution of the war in Ukraine and elaborate a socialist and internationalist strategy to end it.

As the war enters its second year, the US and NATO powers are moving ever more openly toward a direct war with Russia. The most advanced weaponry is being flooded into Ukraine, and behind the scenes there are plans for the deployment of NATO ground troops.

The world stands closer to a full-scale conflict between nuclear powers than at any point since the 1960s.

The Putin regime’s invasion of Ukraine was reactionary and reckless, launched to defend the interests of the Russian oligarchy. However, the war was instigated by the US and NATO powers with the aim of pursuing longstanding aims.

To fight against this war, young people must above all understand it. These meetings will address the following questions: What is the historical background to the war? What are the geopolitical interests driving the US and the NATO powers? What social and political factors shaped the Putin regime’s decision to invade Ukraine? What is the relationship between the war and the growth of the class struggle throughout the world?

We urge all students and youth to make plans to attend a meeting in your area. Further meetings are being scheduled. If there is not a meeting scheduled near you, contact the IYSSE using the form on this page.

The mass strike movement, war and the revolutionary crisis in Europe

What is emerging across Europe is an objectively revolutionary situation. The alternatives are as starkly posed as they were at the outbreak of World War I, over a century ago. Either the capitalist class plunges Europe and the world into a global war between nuclear-armed states, or the working class takes power out of the hands of the warmongering ruling elites.
