The presentation of the German edition of the book Where Is America Going? Fascism or Socialism (Wohin geht Amerika? Faschismus oder Sozialismus) at the Leipzig Book Fair met with extraordinary interest. More than 150 people attended the event featuring the book’s editor David North and Mehring Verlag representative Johannes Stern.

All seats in the non-fiction forum where the presentation took place were completely filled minutes before the event began. During the presentation, additional listeners gathered, extending far into the aisles. The strong turnout reflected growing political concern about developments in the United States and internationally.

The event made clear that the renewed rise of Donald Trump, the return of fascism and the escalation of the illegal war of aggression against Iran are also causing widespread alarm in Germany. At the same time, there was strong interest among participants in a socialist perspective to oppose these developments.

Following the remarks by Stern and North, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, and discussions continued after the event. Many participants purchased the book and had it signed. The book can be ordered here.
